Famous Self Portraits – Virtual Program
November 12 @ 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
FreeSelf portraits can be traced back to ancient times, though they became most prevalent in the early Renaissance period. This lecture explores several famous artists’ self portraits as we learn, and consider: What does an artist’s self portrait say about the time they lived in, the style they painted in, and, most importantly, how they viewed themself? Presented by Mallory Mortillaro. Mallory serves as the Curator of Collections for the Hartley Dodge Foundation in Madison, N.J. While she was cataloging the artwork housed inside of the Hartley Dodge Memorial, she uncovered a masterpiece that had been lost to the art world since the 1930’s. After a year of research, the piece was authenticated as an official work by Auguste Rodin. In addition, Mallory is an art historian and educator. Mallory resides in New Jersey with her husband and daughter. Zoom link to be sent out prior to the program.
This program is graciously shared with us by our friends at the Kemmerer Library, Harding Township
