Adult Services Library Assistant – Programming and Outreach
The Denville Public Library is seeking an energetic, adaptable, and digitally savvy team member to help propel our adult programming and community outreach forward.

Key Responsibilities:
- Content & Promotion: Draft compelling social media posts, design marketing materials, and maintain an active digital presence.
- Events & Community Outreach: Co-host adult events, facilitate engaging book clubs, brainstorm new programs tailored to local interests and schedule/moderate Library programs.
- Patron Support: Assist visitors at the reference desk, answer reference questions, troubleshoot technology and offer personalized recommendations.

- Exceptional Interpersonal Skills: A welcoming, customer-focused approach to helping diverse library users.
- Tech Competency: Hands-on experience with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Canva and WordPress content management.
- Creative & Organized Mindset: Strong attention to detail paired with a knack for visual presentation and event coordination.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (completed).
- Background check and fingerprint clearance prior to start date.
Position Details:
Department: Adult Services
Reports to: Adult Services Supervisor
Employment Type: Part time
Schedule:
- Evening Shift: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Weekend Shift: 5th Saturday of the month (when applicable), 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Flexibility: Occasional morning, afternoon, or Saturday coverage may be needed based on library scheduling.
Starting Salary: $17.55
Benefits:
- This position is not entitled to health benefits.
- Ten vacation days at the daily equivalent rate, prorated.
- After one year of employment, 3 personal days at the daily equivalent rate, prorated.
- Entitled to earned sick leave per N.J.S.A. 34:11D-1.
- Three paid holidays at the daily equivalent rate – July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
- Enrollment in the Defined Contribution Retirement Plan (DCRP), if eligible.
