Library Assistant - Adult Services (Programming and Outreach)
The Denville Public Library is looking for a versatile, tech-savvy, and dynamic Library Assistant to help bridge the gap between traditional library services and modern programming/outreach needs.

What you’ll do:
- The Tech Hero: Help patrons navigate everything from mastering email to troubleshooting social media.
- Creative Force: Design promotional materials and create engaging content for our digital platforms.
- Program Pioneer: Help host and coordinate exciting outreach events for our adult community. Create and run new book related programs including book groups.
- Be the Guide: Provide expert Reference and Readers’ Advisory support (finding that “perfect next book”).
What you bring to the table:
- A “people-first” attitude with stellar communication skills.
- Digital fluency (Microsoft Suite, Google Workspace, and WordPress).
- A knack for organization and an eye for design.
Qualifications:
- A completed Bachelor’s degree is required.
- A background check and fingerprinting is required as part of our pre-employment procedures.
Hours for this position:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday evenings 5pm – 9pm
- 5th Saturday (When applicable), 9 – 5
- Additional hours (mornings, afternoons and/or Saturdays) may be required as needed for coverage.
Pay and benefits:
- Starting pay is $17.55 an hour.
- This position is entitled to earned sick leave per N.J.S.A. 34:11D-1.
- This position is entitled to three paid holidays at the daily equivalent rate – July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
- This position is entitled to 10 vacation days at the daily equivalent rate.
- After one year of employment, this position is entitled to 3 personal days at the daily equivalent rate.
- Enrollment in the Defined Contribution Retirement Plan (DCRP), if eligible.
