SUMMARY:Highlights of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's American Wing - Virtual Program
DESCRIPTION:Metropolitan Museum of Art has been collecting American works since its opening in the 1870s.  In 1924\, the museum officially opened its American Wing\, providing a special focus and celebration of these objects.  Today\, the American Wing houses some of the museum’s most beloved pieces\, such as Leutze’s Washington Crossing the Delaware\, Gilbert Stuart’s iconic portrait of George Washington\, Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ Diana\, as well as Louis Comfort Tiffany’s dramatic three-part window\, Garden Landscape.  This lecture will discuss these pieces and other important works from the collection.  Presented by Mallory Mortillaro\, art historian and educator in conjunction with other libraries in MAIN.  Zoom link will be emailed prior to the program. \n
