RESCHEDULED: The Wonderful world of Bats: A Bat Walk – In Person
July 5, 2023 @ 7:45 PM - 9:15 PM
FreeNEW DATE: JULY 5, 7:45pm
Nine species of bats call New Jersey home, and many can be seen flying around your neighborhood at dusk. Come to the Denville Library as the light fades to watch bats hunt insects using echolocation and learn about their unique ecology! You will learn how to use an acoustic monitor that can detect what bat species are flying nearby.
The program is delivered by The Wildlife Conservation and Management Program (WCMP) at Rutgers University , part of the Rutgers Cooperative Extension. We integrate applied research, public education, and on-the-ground services to offer evidence-based solutions for addressing community needs for wildlife management, resiliency planning, and conservation.
This program will include a short walk outdoors to look for bats. Participant should wear appropriate footwear and clothing. A flashlight or headlamp is suggested. A participant waiver for each attendee will need to be filled out at the event. This program will end AFTER the library closes. RAIN or SHINE! If the weather is not cooperating we will have an indoor program. FAMILIES are welcome to join the fun!
