African American Art NYC Tour – Virtual Program
February 12 @ 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
FreeAfrican Americans have been part of New York since the days of New Amsterdam, but their relationship to the dominant Western society is complex and difficult. Several 19th century sculptures include often controversial representations of African Americans, but it’s only in recent times that we are catching up on filling in the historical gaps and honoring people like Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, and Frederick Douglass. Join Mary Vahey on February 12 at 7pm as she takes you on a tour of NYC Public art featuring African American culture. Register by scanning the QR code or registering below. If you register below, the Zoom link will be sent out before the program.
