Event Details

Faye Fishman, a local harpist, will present a winter holiday program on the Celtic harp. She has been playing the Celtic harp since 2003 and the pedal harp since 2008.

She is a member of The American Harp Society; the NJ Chapter of the American Harp Society (past vice president 2014-August 2016); The International Society of Folk Harpers and Craftsmen; the Historical Harp Society, and HarpAntics, a harp ensemble.

The program will include traditional Christmas and Chanukah tunes.  There will be descriptions of the melodies with some fun facts about some of the songs.

Join us for an informal book group.  We will be discussing Jhumpa Lahiri’s Interpeter of MaladiesIn nine stories imbued with the sensual details of Indian culture, Lahiri charts the emotional journeys of characters seeking love beyond the barriers of nations and generations. This short fiction collection blends elements of Indian traditions with the complexities of American culture in such tales as “A Temporary Matter,” in which a young Indian-American couple confronts their grief over the loss of a child, while their Boston neighborhood copes with a nightly blackout.  No registration required.

Come and join our informal daytime knitting and crocheting MONTHLY group.  We’ll meet the last Tuesday of the month, mostly.  Instructor Maria will be on hand for questions, coaching and lessons if needed.  Bring your needles, hooks, yarn and let’s get crafty!

  • If you wish to learn to knit please bring a skein of light colored bulky yarn and size 9 or 10 knitting needles
  • If you wish to learn to crochet please bring a skein of bulky yarn and a size I, K or M crochet hook.

 

If you need lessons and for knitting or crocheting, please write KNITTING or CROCHETING in the box where it says FOR ADULT PROGRAMS ADDITIONAL ADULTS ATTENDING
