Life at an Edwardian Manor - Sat. Nov 8 at 2:00 PM

The popularity of the PBS series Downton Abbey has sparked our interest in the Edwardian era, which was a time of great disparity between the haves and the have-nots. Wealthy aristocrats owned huge manor houses and reveled in luxury, leisure, and extravagant entertaining. The rich expected their every whim to be indulged, and all their daily needs to be fulfilled, by the less-fortunate souls who served as their domestic servants.

Known as “The Golden Age,” the Edwardian period began in the late 19th century. Its foundation was shaken in the 1910s as the winds of change brought a time of greater social mobility within the rigid British class system. Come learn about this fascinating time and the people who lived it. You don’t need to be a Downton Abbey fan to enjoy this interesting historical presentation!
