Read to a Dog!

Reading aloud boosts confidence -- especially for shy or reluctant readers -- and improves reading skills for all children.  The Denville Library is excited to host registered therapy dogs Turner and Zoe for our first session of Read to a Dog on Saturday, April 6th, at 11 am.  Children in grades K-5 will find that Turner and Zoe are patient, non-judgmental listeners.  Reading to a dog is great practice for reading aloud in class at school.  Have your child bring books from home or feel free to read one (or more!) of ours.  Turner and Zoe are certified through Bright & Beautiful, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that evaluates, tests, trains, and qualifies owners and their well-behaved dogs as therapy teams.  Both Turner and Zoe have had lots of practice listening to young readers at the Madison Library, and Turner has also visited schools, camps for the developmentally disabled, and senior rehabilitation centers.  Turner and Zoe look forward to hearing from you!
