Read to a Dog!

on Mon, 04/15/2013 - 11:49am

Reading aloud boosts confidence -- especially for shy or reluctant readers -- and improves reading skills for all children. The Denville Library is excited to host registered therapy dogs Clover, Randall, and Zoe on Saturday, May 4th from 11:00 am to Noon. Children in grades K-5 will find that Clover, Randall, and Zoe are patient, non-judgmental listeners. Reading to a dog is great practice for reading aloud in class at school. Have your child bring books from home or feel free to read one (or more!) of ours. Clover, Randall, and Zoe are certified through Bright & Beautiful, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that evaluates, tests, trains, and qualifies owners and their well-behaved dogs as therapy teams. The dogs have had lots of practice listening to young readers at the Madison Library, and Randall was at the Denville Library in April, where he loved hearing so many great stories from our young readers! Please register below. Our dogs look forward to hearing from you!
